"Myths are the building material of our psyche" [Olga Tokarchuk]
Pupils of Kolkiv OZNVK together with young people from Lyceum named after S. Stasitsa (Zgiezh, Poland) for the first time realize an international online project_cc781905-5cbb-3194 -136bad5cf58d_ in the format "Disaster does not sleep... - Slavic motifs" (October 5 - 14, 2020). The beneficiary is the Union of Graduates of the Gymnasium and Lyceum named after S.Stashitsa, Zgezh.
Common ancient heritage is a source for creative, artistic and scientific activities, holding video conferences, master classes. We aim to study the Slavic traditions of both peoples and develop the emotional intelligence of students. One of the results of the project is the maintenance of a website and a blog in the form of a cultural-historical discourse, which demonstrates ancient customs and their presence in modern life, including elements of Slavic gymnastics.www.lichoniespi.pl
We are aware that our Slavic past is constantly being revealed in new ways, causing many controversies. How many researchers - so many hypotheses. Since the information presented is often inconsistent, we consider our project as a journey to historical roots. We are driven by interest in the world and each of us has a desire to enrich our lives. We set out on this path to learn to see and hear the world around us, as well as to get to know people with their cultural diversity and spiritual wealth. From this trip, we will take something that will interest us and inspire us for further research - we invite you to this too!

Day 1. October 5
Let's get started!
Today, October 5, 2020, we are starting the implementation of the Polish-Ukrainian educational project "Misery does not sleep... - Slavic motifs". The project aims to unite students of the Lyceum and Gymnasium named after S. Stasitsa in Zgezh and Kolkiv OZNVK during the search for common Slavic roots. Due to the pandemic, meetings are held online. Even before the first video conference, serious preparations were made: the participants made informational posters, business cards with their own names (in Ukrainian and Polish) and the Slavic name that they chose for the project. The directors of both educational institutions took part in the first meeting and opening: Mrs. Beata Pospyeh and Vitaliy Dmytrovych Kotelenets, coordinator teachers and students who participated in the project. During the acquaintance, it became clear that the language barrier is easy to overcome, because Polish and Ukrainian languages are very similar, and English always comes in handy. The participants also expressed their expectations regarding their participation in the project. On this day, project participant Yaroslav Pisarskyi was the birthday boy and a welcome from the Polish group was a pleasant surprise. And in the evening - online communication. Participants completed tasks in small groups. During the next nine days, we will implement our ambitious plans to learn more about each other and get acquainted with Slavic culture. We invite you to learn more on the website www.lichoniespi.pl
Day 2. October 6
The second day of the implementation of the project "Misery does not sleep... - Slavic motifs" was marked by high physical activity. The main highlight of the online meeting was the Slavic gymnastics classes conducted by Ms. Natalia Bialovas (she hosted the broadcast from Wroclaw!). Mrs. Natalia spoke about the origin of Slavic gymnastics, its influence on life and health. And although it is mostly aimed at girls and women, boys could also perform most of the exercises. Participants tried diligently to repeat the movements, but it was not always easy. One conclusion: what is yoga and tai chi - after all, we have Slavic gymnastics! PS Today we celebrated the birthday again - now it's Sofia Horbach's birthday (little by little it's already becoming a tradition of the project). "Sto lat!" sounded for Sofia. Sincere congratulations!!!
Day 3. October 7
"Be open to yourself and to others" - under this slogan, psychological training for project participants took place today. It was about the development of emotional intelligence, its important influence on human life. Students learned to recognize their own emotions and emotions of other people, tried to determine feelings and mental states by facial expressions. They learned more about their own character traits, life values, and relationships with the environment. In a relaxed atmosphere, project participants not only gained new knowledge, but also enjoyed communicating with each other and having fun.
Day 4. October 8
Today, October 8, we listened to a real lecture by Professor Rafal Mersky - the author of many books, a researcher of the history and traditions of the Slavic peoples. It turned out that we know so little about the customs and way of life of our ancestors. It turns out that the traditions of the pre-Christian era were reflected in modern cultural life and Christian rituals. Our homework was to conduct a survey among friends and relatives: what do they know about Slavic culture? Although our Polish friends - project participants are hundreds of kilometers away from us, we danced together today!
Day 5. October 9
Project participants learned how to better understand themselves, clearly express their desires, be able to understand others and communicate constructively during a session with a psychologist. Work in small groups and pairs, psychological games and interesting tasks contributed to the fact that everyone had to realize their own value and uniqueness, develop the ability to overcome life's difficulties. A whole bouquet of positive emotions was brought by creative activity - decorating t-shirts with acrylic paints using elements of Slavic symbols. Due to technical problems, unfortunately, the joint dance was not successful, they performed their "music breaks" and "dance exercises" separately.
Day 6. October 10
On October 10, professor Viktor Davydyuk, a teacher of Lesya Ukrainka East European National University, visited us. Stories from the history of ancient Slavic writing, riddles of the "Book of Veles", legends of Western Polissia greatly interested the participants of the project. It is not surprising that with great enthusiasm everyone accepted the idea of making a motanka doll with their own hands. The master class from the art studio "Palitra" was conducted by its director Lyudmila Volodymyrivna Ostrovska. If you make a wish and do the work diligently, in a good humor and with love, while making a motanka, it will definitely come true. Our Slavic ancestors believed in this, and so we do today.
Day 7. October 11
And even on Sundays we work and perform tasks within the framework of the project. For various reasons, not everyone was able to come or get to school today, so some of the participants joined us online. Today they talked about Slavic symbols. Drawings on dishes, weapons and housing, amulets, patterns
on decorations and clothes, ornaments in embroidery - everything had its own meaning, a clear purpose and could not be used in any order. Watching the film "Yaga" added to the mystical mood. - a futuristic version of ancient Polish legends. And the joint performance of gymnastic exercises contributed to not only spiritual, but also physical development.
Day 8. October 12
On October 12, the guest of the project was Oleksandr Seredyuk - doctor of philosophy, historian, author of many books, researcher of folk customs and history of the Ukrainian Cossacks, head of the "Cossack Gart" martial arts studio. A short excursion into the past helped us learn more about customs and traditions
Ukrainian Cossacks. Mr. Oleksandr offered us a set of exercises that energize and strengthen health. We are not sure that we managed to practice as well as the Cossacks, but the joint performance of the musical "Soku-soku" brought much joy to both groups.
Day 9. October 13
Today we summarize the results of our project. It was decided to prepare a video presentation, an exhibition of photos and own products, and to present their work to school students and teachers. Participants of both groups simultaneously told their peers about new acquaintances, shared the acquired knowledge and
warm emotions. Directors of our partner educational institutions came to the meeting. For their work in the project, each participant received a diploma and a souvenir from the president of the city of Zgezh and the head of the county. Although this time we managed to communicate with our Polish friends only with the help of technology, we all gained new skills by implementing the project online, and we did not lose hope for a meeting and joint activities in the future.
Day 10. October 14
We fill out final questionnaires, draw up documentation, evaluate project results.... It's a pity that it all ended so quickly. The project gave the participants new knowledge, acquaintances, awakened interest in studying the past of their people, was remembered by a whole range of positive emotions and joy from
joint activity. We are waiting for the continuation of the project next summer!
